Frugal Shopping

Thursday night my SIL and I went to State College to do our grocery shopping (I think its been 8 weeks or so since we went and did this!) Anyway, we collect all our coupons, since this store will doube $1.00 coupons and we head out. We are usually in there around 4 hours. AND save My bill was...........drum roll please...........I paid $243 and I saved $332!!!! The guy behind me kept watching my screen to see what my bill was and what I saved. When the cashier gave me my reciept he didn't roll it up and so as I walked away from the register I had this trail of receipt flapping in the wind....took me a little distance before it come from behind the register -- see pic below, not a good pic but shows you how long it was!! So I'm loading up the groceries (Vic has to take her back seat out of the van to get it all in) and the guy who stood behind me at the grocery comes out of the store and walks by and says "you did good for yourself in there" Well, that made me feel good. Since I was a bit worried about him getting frustrated at how long it took to ring up all the coupons!! Now Vickie comes out and loads her groceries and tells me her story. There were 3 ladies lined up behind her at the register. They were all cheering her on, saying "you go girl" and such. After the coupons were rung and all that the lady in the back says, "Whats the total saved" So the cashier had to basically make an announcement to the line of women informing them of her total savings. So it was an experience.

I figure with the time it takes to organize the coupons and all Vickie and I make about $30.00 an hour on our coupons savings.

House Full

Well, school is about to start so we decided that we would go out with a bang!! WOW, a house full. So the girls invited friends over.....and Clayton along with Ryan decided to hang out and pull some pranks. Below are a few pics. We will post more later. Phoebe, Alyssa & monkey ---------------- can you tell which one is which? Giggle, snort!
Since the girls had friends to hang out with at night, Clayton and mom decided to make a tent in moms room and sleep in there. Poor dad, he said that Clayton kicks too much so he went to Claytons room ALL BY HIMSELF.
Shalene, Rachael & Susie -- camped out in the living room.

The girls all did a few crafts -- they embellished notebooks and a few other things for school.

Clayton & Ryan - dressed to sneek up on the girls while they were outside. Shalene & her buddies were gonna sleep out on the deck under the screened in gazebo but they only were out a short time till they decided it was too cold.

Ping Pong Shopping

OK, this is for all of you mothers out there. How many of you have ever taken "multiple young people" (in otherwords more than one kid) shopping? Well, on Wednesday I took all three of my young people shopping. Now, we were not looking for anything specific, just seeing what back to school sales we could find. And we did find some deals. HOWEVER, I will admit that when the day was over I felt like a ping pong ball that had a small crack and dented in at the side.

You ask: "Why did you feel like a ping pong ball?"

Well, many of you mothers/parents who have taken multiple young people shopping realize that NONE of them have the same interst or wear the same style or size....so when you are in a specific store or section of a store you have multiple voices calling MOM. However, they are never standing together -- it is always on opposite sides of you. Henceforth the thought of a ping pong ball. You know - BACK & FORTH, BACK & FORTH. Oftentimes it is something that is NOT necessary AT ALL, or its something that you really have no clue what the purpose of the item is. BUT, the "young people" can explain to you why you should spend your savings account on the item......and they may use it for a month. (Now, my kids aren't that bad, well, um, all the time......but I have had those moments) I feel I was the ball in a professional game, very HIGH speed and intense game. However, I did survive --BUT with a small crack and dent.

I believe that the players do not deserve the gold medal for this game--but the ping pong ball for surviving.

We can laugh or we can cry!! I choose to laugh and enjoy my "multiple young people" (kids!)

OH, yeah -- Value City has some American Eagle clothes at GREAT PRICES. And the Selinsgrove thrift shop had some great brand name items at "MY PRICE!"

Dad - Just a note to say Happy Birthday! We love you.......wish you were closer so we could spoil you but we want you to know that we love you.
Steve, Amy, Alyssa, Shalene & Clayton
Dad - I could never begin to say how much I love you. Thanks for loving me & even for all the grumpy times when you were protecting me. Even now when you get worked up when someone is sick!!! you can't stand to see one of your loved ones not feeling well. And you always do your best to spoil us!! I sure do love you. XOXOXOXO Amy

Happy Birthday Vickie!

My sister-in-law had a birthday!!!!! And we pulled off a suprise party for her. Her hubby did good on tricking her, thats for sure. It was held at DC Coffee (when they were closed!) Here she is when she first arrived and realized that there was a pile of people hiding in the building. She thought she was stopping in to grab some coffee to take to a friends house (Jennifer is the daughter of the owner of DC Coffee's and the story was, that Jennifer was out of coffee so could Vic please stop at the store to grab some coffee on her way over)
Vic & baby Whitney share the same birthday.

I think we really suprised her on this one. She deserves it!!! Could never ask for a better sister-in-law!!
